Master M Manickam’s interest in sport began in childhood. His account of learning across martial arts describes a continuing pursuit of physical discipline, concentration and personal growth.
A journey across disciplines
He began Karate in 1994, reached a training milestone in 1996 and studied traditional Silambam for around one and a half years. In 1998 he began Kung Fu, building on the coordination and physical practice developed earlier. These dates are drawn from the founder’s supplied biography.
Sport and wider learning
His account also describes B.Com studies during 1999–2001, college sports leadership and participation in volleyball and Kabaddi. Later learning included Kalaripayattu, yoga and spiritual studies. These experiences are presented as personal history, not a list of independently verified qualifications.
The academy’s philosophy
Training should develop the body, encourage self-control and strengthen character. Respect, perseverance and lifelong learning matter alongside physical ability. Spiritual interests are optional and are not a requirement for admission.
Looking ahead
The academy aspires to develop national and international learning opportunities, including cultural and educational relationships connected with Shaolin traditions. These are future goals, not existing official partnerships or guaranteed student placements.
